Eastminster Sports Page Eastminster Basketball TeamThe Eastminster Basketball Team plays in the York area Church Basketball League. Currently there are 6 members on the team but expansion is certainly not out of the question. League games are played at the First Church of the Brethren on Kingston Rd. and St. Matthews Lutheran Church on W. Market Street.
Competing against other B-Ballers in their mid 50s to some as young as 16, these guys have done pretty well. In 2004 they won the league title and were dually rewarded by being bumped up to the next division. The following season the competition was a little stiffer, the going a little rougher and… well let’s just say they didn’t fair as well. They went from being the proverbial big fish in a small pond to a not so big fish in a rather large lake. However, slowly but surely they have rebounded until, once again, they made it to the semi-finals this last season.
If you think you would enjoy the fellowship, exercise, a little competition and lots of laughs perhaps you should consider joining them. To learn more please contact Jim Tollinger, Bob Moore, or the Church Office.
Eastminster DuffersThe Eastminster Duffers is a social group of members of all ages and occasionally their friends and relatives. They get together most every Friday evening, between 5:00 and 5:30, May through September, at one of the local golf courses. They play many different courses including Cool Creek, Grand View, Valley Green, Heritage, Springwood, etc. There are no handicaps. It’s not a league, just a group of people who like to golf and get together for food and drinks afterwards at a local restaurant. Being there every week is not mandatory. If someone is not able to make it…it’s not a problem. They are about 12 strong right now and welcome new golfers as well as more experienced ones. It’s not serious golf. It’s serious fun. All are invited join them, have fun and build friendships. For more information call Lee Hankey or Larry LeBlanc.
